"Not too bad, has lasted 5 years already" 2010-07-02
By Alex
Well, I bought this camera back in November of '05 (I think.. It's been a while) for about $120, and I've taken it across the world. In 2007, I had the same lens problem many people have had - The lens got stuck, and wouldn't move. Well, I took the camera apart (I wasn't concerned with any warranty issues, it was a cheap, old-ish camera), and I took an air compressor to the lens area. Well, some dust blew out, I slapped the thing back together, and it's worked ever since.

It has a decent picture quality for being so cheap, and it's got a good lifespan if you treat it like a piece of electronic equipment. I've traveled with it through Ireland, England, Germany, Italy, and Japan, and I've never had a problem other than the lens being stuck back in '07. I might add that most of the miles were on the back of a bike, so it's been through some bad weather, sweat, some nasty falls, etc. Never dropped in water though.

I have, however, stuck it in an inflated ziplock bag and taken some underwater pictures. Definitely not the best quality, unless the water is REALLY clear, on a bright day.

I can't really speak for the included software, or the easyshare features, because I've always just used a SD card, never had to connect the camera to a computer.

With some better picture quality, this would be my favorite camera until it died of old age, as it stands now, I'm looking at something thinner, with better picture quality.

 "SLOW!!!!!" 2008-01-01
By Lea Ann (Lafayette, LA United States)
This camera takes great pictures if your subject doesn't mind staying perfectly still forever. By the time the camera is done "processing" my baby is usually no longer laughing. If he's in motion the pictures often come out blurry. It feels like decades go by between the time I press the button & it captures an image. Unless you are photographing landscapes I really would not recommend this camera. Also, if you use it to tape video, there is no sound. Again, not real useful if my baby is laughing. This camera also goes through batteries really fast. I will never buy electronics again without doing more research. Don't buy this camera, there are much better cameras on the market for comparable prices.

"good little camera but battery door is awful" 2007-04-25
By Stephens (Canton, ga)
I bought this camera @ walmart for 130 I believe a few months back. It works great, still works fine, but the battery door doesn't close all the way now for some reason. I have to use a piece of tape to keep it shut. It does use a lot of battery very quickly as well. I am using rechargeables now, and would recommend taking them out after your done taking pictures otherwise the batteries will be dead next time you try to use them. Not sure why it does that. The quality is good, especially for a 3.1 MP, and the 10 second timer is a great feature. I would not recommend it if you do a lot of picture taking though, because of the numerous battery door issues I have come across after searching for a fix for my camera. Apparently Kodak has a lot of issues w/ this.

The product does what it's suposed to do, but nothing else. But that wy you are paying that price.

My first unit came defective, that speaks bad about quality control after refurbish, but the seller acted really good, change was easy.

"Good for beginners, poor in indoor lighting" 2006-12-30
By M. A. Davis (Winston-Salem, NC)
I received the Easyshare CD33 as a Christmas gift in 2005. The camera is a good little intro to digital snapshots, and was apparently designed to be nothing more than that. It's a no-frills camera that takes reasonably clear pictures under the right circumstances, and can easily fit into a coat pocket and operated one-handed. It is not a camera for those who wish to "upgrade" or for photo "geeks." The screen size is a little small, but clear, and there are plenty of picture-taking scenarios programmed in. You can also set up for color, BW, or sepia very easily. There is also a macro setting for taking closeups of objects that I have found quite satisfactory. The only drawback is the camera's indoor-lighting quality is less than satisfactory. Anything beyond the range of the flash comes out pretty dark, sometimes even black. I sometimes have to take pictures inside a very well-lit gymnasium, and even then I have to get really close to the sidelines in order for anything to catch the flash. Even if I use the zoom, everything comes out dark.

It's a great first-time user's camera, and very easy to get set up out of the box. It's also fine for taking candid shots where the subject is within a few feet, and it works wonderfully in daylight situations. However, if you want to be able to take a lot of bright indoor light photos I would recommend a newer model (I have tested the newer 5 and 6 MP Easyshares and they seem to work great in indoor situations). It's also not good in places like concert venues, bars or clubs. Also, if you're the kind that wants more manual control, this is definately not the camera to choose. The most manual control that is offered is a choice between 3 ISO settings.

 "Never Buy This Camera" 2008-04-26
By Rune La Fae (Anywhere USA)
I bought this for my daughter. I got it, opened the box up, and wanted to set it up, so it would be all charged and ready for her for her birthday. Her birthday is today. Camera isn't charged. Okay, there are apparently three ways you can charge this camera, one is through USB port, one is one of those odd rounded type rectangular plugs, with an adapter, that fits into the USB cord thing, that attaches to a pronged adapter, last but not least, the third way to charge it, an optional charger you can purchase, one of those slim round plugs, goes right in the side of the camera. So one would think... WOW, I have 3 different ways to charge this, how convenient. I would agree, it it charged at all.

So I go to the Kodak website, go through help and do all the things they tell me to do, and nothing. They have that "has this option fixed your problem" type of thing, from one screen to the next. I get to the final screen. You appear to have a problem that YOU can't fix. Big surprise. Then of course, you have the option right then, of setting yourself up to send this product to them. Of course, if you don't have the warranty, you have to pay for all the fixing. OH, and receipt is necessary, plus proof of purchase.

So, I bought the camera at Fry's, in February. I didn't purchase the warranty. Only the camera, I got a bonus at work, and knew I wanted to get my daughter something nice for her birthday for once. Anyway, I can't find the receipt, and Fry's can't find the purchase through my credit card. It's a conspiracy. So now I'm looking for another camera..... NONE KODAK. Something extra, that I can afford, and still pay the rent next week.

Happy Birthday to her :(

This camera makes clear pictures and is easy to use. However I cannot recommend it because of the annoying long shutter lag. It is ok for stationary or posed pictures but not for action shots. It is almost impossible to get a decent picture of an active child or pet.

 "Junk" 2006-11-01
By Tracie (Saratoga Springs, NY United States)
I got this camera as a birthday present yesterday. I took a few pictures yesterday, and was a bit dismayed at how blurry they can be unless you are absolutely motionless. I'm used to digital cameras, as I use them at work and this was a replacement for my 6 year old, 1MP camera.

Well today I went to use it, and it would not turn on. I changed the batteries twice, but no go. I called Kodak, and they told me I could mail it to their repair facility and in a few weeks they'd either send me back my repaired camera or send me a refurbished model of their choice.

That totally sucks. Worst customer service ever. Crappiest camera I've ever used.

 "Great Camera!" 2006-06-27
By StangoDango (Phoenix, AZ)
I purchased this camera after I saw a good friend with one. This is a great camera if you are new to digi cams, on a budget, or have some good working knowledge of how to use a camera. The set up is simple and I was up snapping pics in minutes. It has 13 settings on the top dial that help you set the flash for various scenes such as sports, backlight, close ups, nightime, and langscapes.

I purchased a SD card because I take lots of pics of my dogs and the card holds a heck of lot of pics. (depending on what size you buy) The one thing I suggest for anyone buying a digi cam is to spend the money and purchase the batteries made for digital electronics. With the regular alkaline batteries I only got about six pics before the batteries went dead. The recharge digi cam batteries work great too.

You can use the Kodak software to download your pics. My friend showed me the software at her house and it is very user friendly. I didn't use the Kodak software because I already have Paintshop Pro and it recognized the camera using the USB cord and the SD Card.

So, go ahead and make the purchase you won't be dissappointed. It takes great pictures and they are easily downloaded or uploaded to the web. Peace out!

"Decent Camera for the Novice User" 2007-11-03
By Aakash Desai
I got this camera as a Christmas present in 2005 and it's been decent for me for the 2-3 years I've had it.

pros:

- Easy to Use...pretty much point and click with a no-hassle menu

- Cheap/Affordable

cons:

- The flash is just not very intuitive and I've began turning off the flash because it wears thin on me at social gatherings in dark spots.

- Horrible Battery Life...I took this camera on a 2 week trip to Italy and had to insert a pair of Double A batteries every other day (I only took 400-500 shots). The problem is the power usage of the digital screen on the back of the camera. Once that's turned off, the battery life extends to 1-2 weeks sometimes under the same usage as my time in Italy.

- A little bit too blocky for users that want something slim.

Overall, it's an ok starter camera, but for someone that expects to use a camera quite often, I suggest trying something else.

Got this camera for my Mother who is in her 70's, it is easy to use and to get the pictures on the computer. She was taking pictures with in minutes of getting it turned on. We are both very pleaded with the ease of use and the quality of the prints! This replaced her film camera. Now she can share her pictures with family and friends with out buying all the extra prints. I recomend this for all Grand parents for email pictures. Much better way to keep in touch!

"Not for the person that values quality" 2006-06-17
By Sweet Tangerine
Granted I went from an ancient 1.3 Olympus to this, I was excited when I received this camera last Christmas. Although a major improvement from my previous camera, I soon noticed many faults that the camera possessed.

The major problem I experienced from the camera was its flash. I often found myself turning off the flash when I can. The reason was because all pictures turned out dark. I would usually need to come back and lighten the picture on my computer in order to make it look nice. Also, don't even bother trying to take a picture outdoors while/after the sun has set. I will guarantee that the picture won't turn out unless you are right in front of the subject. Even then, it still turned out dark. The only other time I was pleased by the quality was outdoors on a sunny day when flash was not needed.

I was also disappointed in the zoom of this camera. It only came with digital zoom, so of course the quality would completely suck if used. Every picture that I have used zoom with either came out grainy, or disfigured in terms of color quality and exposure. Also, the flash wouldn't even reach the far distance that you are trying to capture, which resulted in a dark picture that was useless.

Video quality of the camera was 10x's better than my previous. It had 'okay' quality, but I have definitely seen better. Some grain and not that crisp. But again, don't expect to get much of a picture unless you are in a fully lit area. The camera does a terrible job at capturing light. Video also does not record sound, which was something I would have liked to have.

The in camera cropping also had negatives. You can't use the feature with pictures that you used the zoom with. I experienced other problems where cropping was not supported, even though I did not use zoom. During the few times I actually was able to use the crop option, it distorted the image, often making it grainy and unappealing.

Other problems I experienced was the "processing" problem I would have frequently. After taking a picture, the camera would "process" for a couple minutes before I could switch it to video mode, or review other pictures.

Overall, the camera is good if you are not that big into quality. Maybe a good camera for every once in a while to capture a moment. But if you are planning on continuous use, I recommend getting a much better camera.

 "Redefining "user friendly"!" 2006-01-20
By Dave (Tennessee United States)
The first digital camera I got was an overpriced Olympus 5 MP piece of junk that wouldn't even function properly. Add to that the numerous buttons and confusing menus...it was a stressful mess. I returned the Olympus garbage and picked up this baby, and I knew I had made the right choice. Just check out the back of the camera: a total of only 5 buttons! The menu options are kept to a minimum, and so far I haven't even had to use the menu at all because the camera does most of the work automatically. The CD installation is also very easy, and once again the menus are incredibly easy. And thankfully, transfering images from the camera to the computer is a simple, stress-free process.

Here are some of the great features of this camera:

- fast picture capture

- on-camera cropping

- color LCD display

- works with Kodak EasyShare camera/printer docks

- digital video clips

- 16MB of internal memory (13MB available for image storage)

- 5x continuous digital zoom

- get awesome, crystal clear pictures as large as 20 x 30 inches

It's so easy to use I can guarantee that practically any electonically-impaired individual can figure it out! Highest recommendation, especially for beginners.

 "Poor Picture Quality" 2008-11-28
By Penelope M. McCoy (Franklin, NC United States)
I hate to do this as I have only ever had Kodak cameras and up till now have been more than happy with all of them. I have had this camera long enough to have played around with all the settings and taken plenty of pictures.

I have yet to get a good clear picture out of it no matter what the light. All the pictures are very grainy and very poor quality (even in the highest mega pixel setting) and I have not been able to print off a decent image.

I bought this camera so I could keep in my bag and catch those fly of the moment pictures. I have gone back to carrying my bigger model which is only a 3 megapixel but takes wonderful pictures.

I am going to stay with kodak and give them another chance and hopefully find another pocket size model that does the job a whole lot better.

I bought this for my 12 year old daughter and while perfect for her, it would not be something I would purchase and enjoy for myself. The shutter speed is way to slow for me. I do own a Kodak that I love, but sadly Kodak doesn't make it anymore. Maybe I am just comparing this one to mine. The one I have is a Kodak V705 with the dual lens, very fast and takes excellent pictures.

"Would never buy another Kodak" 2004-04-15

I have this camera. It has been fine. However, knowing what I know now I would never buy another Kodak camera. Ever. I dropped this camera, and a little plastic piece broke off which keeps the battery pack in the camera. Not a big deal. But NOONE repairs Kodak cameras. Instead you HAVE to send it into their corporate repair center and they instead sell you on trading it in for a refurbished camera. So, I can send this one in and for $250 get a new refurbished camera. But it only sells for $50 more on amazon.com - and thats a new, non-refurbished one! Its a total crock. Just be forwarned. I'd never buy a camera which I cant get repaired locally.

I got this camera second hand from my boyfriend after he bought a new one, and though I like the easy to use laid back atmosphere of it, I wouldn't recommend this camera. It's big, kind of heavy. Even though this camera HAD been taken care of, the battery holder was broken too, it has to be held on with duct tape. Carry spare batteries too, it really drains the juice out of them. I've gotten around sixty five to seventy pictures. Turning off the LCD screen helps.
On the other hand, if you just want to play around and take some pictures here and there on the weekends or whenever, this would be a good starter/hobby camera, it's tough and can take a beating (it's been dropped numerous times on concrete floors and the like since it's been mine).

"A Good Camera for the Beginners and Technology Illiterates" 2003-11-30
By Andrew Keller (Havertown, PA USA)
I received my Kodak DC215 Zoom as a gift for my birthday a few years back. It was my first digital anything (I still proudly carried my analog cam corder, kept my contacts in a paper address book, etc.), so I was very excited (being the technology buff that I am). While boxy and a little on the heavy size, the camera really doesn't look bad at all. Its nicely built as its survived a few perilous falls, however one of the rubber flaps has fallen off over a few years of use.

The camera takes nice pictures for what you're paying for, however the zoom leaves much to be desired-expect to be huddled real close to your subject as you snap away.

Another downside to this camera is its use of the serial port to transfer pictures. This is extremely slow and takes a few minutes to even list the pictures on the camera (and if you've got more than 20 or so to transfer, go grab a cup of coffee). There's no other options for transferring, so you're stuck in that aspect. Don't buy this camera if you need to take a lot of pictures in a short amount of time... I'd say it takes at least fifteen seconds to store the picture after you snap it.

A nice feature of the camera is its ability to be hooked up directly to a TV or VCR. You can even have it run through the pictures as a slideshow. The review feature and preferences menu on the camera is very nicely layed out, and you can easily view and delete pictures as you please.

Overall this camera definetly gives you your money's worth.. however, if you're looking to take more than vacation and family pictures to stash away in your [on-line] album, I'd strongly suggest looking at other cameras. While its good for beginners and the casual user, the Kodac DC215 Zoom leaves much to be desired.

"Decent if you like huge heavy clunky cameras" 2003-11-24
By Shannon Adolph (San Antonio, TX)
This body design is so outdated, it is not worth the price at all. It is huge and heavy. The performance isn't bad, but one problem I had (I owned 2 - not because I liked it so much but my company uses them) and I had the same problem on both of them - the battery compartment won't stay closed and you have to hold it closed with tape. Also, sometimes it will have a brain fart and the screen will go all snowy, and you will be snapping pictures but they aren't taking, even though it appears that they are. But when you go back to review them, they aren't there. I also had this problem on both cameras but it wasn't as common - it only happened about 3-4 times over a year period (and I use the camera almost daily). The battery life is pretty good - I can usually get 75 or so pics out of it before I have to recharge the batteries. But I would not really recommend it since there are definitely other models out there that are much better for this price.

"You get what you pay for" 2010-03-09

Unless you are needing an extremely basic camera that takes pretty poor quality photos, I would not recommend buying this product. I've only had it about 7 months and am already considering tossing it in the trash. The pictures, even when taken in the higher megapixels, come out really blurry and the coloring is drab. It takes semi-decent movies, but when you try to zoom in, it makes a clicking noise which is heard when you re-play the movie. The symbols on the actual camera, such as the trash bin, have smudged off and began doing so the first time I used the camera. Overall, this is not a very good quality camera.

 "Poor zoom quality" 2009-10-02
By Judith Taylor
This camera is small, easy to carry and good for regular normal pictures. Video and sound does work well. The zoom resolution breaks down to large square pixels without clarity or definition. I lost valuable video events because of using the zoom option. Even at the highest pixel resolution you couldn't see what you were shooting. Zoom still shots are totally distorted. If you want normal pics this camera will work. i'd never buy it again.

 "Fantastic point and shoot" 2009-09-09
By slugduck (Portland Oregon)
I bought this camera for my wife who is not good with gagetry, but she wanted to start taking pictures. It has been a fantastic camera for her. It is not complicated. It seems to take great pictures on any setting. And best of all my wife uses it all the time. It's so compact she just carries it in her purse where ever she goes. I've taken pictures with it too and it is just first rate. We liked it so much we bought a second just to have so when this one finally falls apart we have a back up. The software is easy to use too. It pretty much downloads your pics without you doing much of anything except plugging in the cord to your computer.

 "Great Point And Shoot" 2009-07-08
By C. Torres (Huntington Beach, CA)
I have two of these cameras, one for use while on the jobsite and one for personal use. The best feature for me is the rechargeable battery. Having to fumble around looking for new batteries has always been a hassle for me. With this camera, I just plug it in at the end of the day, and its ready to go in the morning. The picture quality is great and the Kodak Easy Share software is a breeze to use when you want to store images on your computer. Overall I think this is a fantastic basic camera with some very useful features that anyone can use. The size is perfect for travel and in your shirt pocket at work. Great camera!!

"Still working great since February 2002" 2010-05-31
By rejuvenationmd (La Jolla, CA USA)
I purchased this Kodak DX3700 EasyShare 3MP Digital Camera from Amazon in February 2002. It is still working fine for me although with all the technological advances I think you can get more for your money in a camera more recently manufactured.

"Buyers are no longer Readers" 2006-12-23
By J. Simpson
If you expect to get a camera and never read instructions on how to use it then rate this camera poorly. Most customers out there now days want everything to work with little effort. They are lazy and illiterate. Read the instructions that come with this product and it will not give you problems.

The issue with the camera and SD cards and all that compatibility stuff is a crock. The only issue with the camera is the user. SD cards can be found on AMAZON for around $20 for a 1gb card. This is good.

The dock that you can buy for this camera (not required!! can recharge battery without it) is great. Download your pictures fast and easy. If you have problems with the battery, try not leaving the camera on the dock FOR A DAY. If you would have read the instructions it says not to leave it on there for more than FIVE HOURS. Leaving anything with a battery charging for that long will decrease the battery life. This is true with most electronics.

To wrap things up... read instructions, dont be lazy. Things dont work right if they are not used correctly. What do you expect.

BUY THIS CAMERA ITS GREAT!!!

For those who want good pictures but don't want a large learning curve or alot of buttons to have to push...The KODAK CX7300 is the Winning Ticket! Super Ease Of Use without sacrificing quality! What more could you possibly ask for out of a digital camera. And this amazing camera also takes video! You get the Kodak Name and their Imaging Science Technology that many rave about. Don't waste your money with sophisticated features or a Non-Name Brand...get this camera instead. I HIGHLY RECOMEND!

 "Don't Buy This Camera" 2005-04-29
By A senior citizen (La Mirada, CA)
Maybe you can take two or three pictures before the battery is dead. The Camera Dock for this camera shows full charge but it still only takes two to three pictures. I use Kodak Rechargeable Ni-MH Battery Pack that came with camera. I replaced it, and it still doesn't work. I sent the camera back to Kodak and they "fixed it". Nothing has changed. I have tried other batteries, to no avail. The pictures aren't really that great, either. The camera and dock are dusty.

 "BUYER BEWARE." 2005-01-11
By Eric A. Hedstrand
This product is junk. There is no useful purpose to this hunk o' crap. The pictures suck unless you are in BROAD daylight. The flash dosen't work, and even more pitiful, it makes the pictures DARKER when you have it on. The dock sucks- if it breaks (like it did for me) then you are screwed and cannot charge the camera. Additionally, the battery lasts for about 2 pictures and then it dies. If you turn on the LCD screen, you can probably only count on .5 pictures before it dies. This is the worst electronic product I have ever owned and I am sorry I ever bought a Kodak camera. I will never buy one again, nor will I buy another Kodak product, as I am severely disappointed with this one.

 "Expensive isn't always better!" 2004-12-16
By Krystal Hillsman (TN)
This camera is great. I love it! It couldn't be easier to use. You simply load the batteries, turn it on, and you're good to go. The menu is self-explanatory and easy to navigate; there is no need to read the user's manual. The included 16mb will hold 25 pictures at the best quality. It would be a good idea to get rechargeable batteries and a memory card if you are planning on going on vacation. An expensive memory card is not necessary. Mine is 128mb and it only cost me $15. With the memory card, it will give you over 200 pictures (I get 221) and a 8 minutes and 12 seconds of video. The video quality is what one could only except from a camera. Not awesome, but not totally bad either. The camera comes with built in lens protection so there is no need to worry about that. The camera also comes with 5 different kinds of pictures settings. For the money, you can't do better.
