 "Kodak does it again!!" 2010-01-24
By Bill Lundquist (Minnesota)
I bought my V1253 a few years ago and have loved it from the first day! I use an SD card and when the cards gets filled up (350 pix for a 1-gb card)I save it and put in another one! Nice screen. Battery stays up for a long time without being recharged! I carry it in my pocket and just love it. I'm very satisfied with it.

 "Don't waste your money." 2010-01-14
By Cassandra N. Petty (Ohio)
I received this camera as a Christmas gift in 2007. I loved it... at first. The pictures could be grainy at times unless you really worked the settings. My biggest problem with this camera is that at about 8 months of use it quit working! It wouldn't power up correctly.

It was still in warranty so I sent it to be fixed. It came back acting a bit funny when powering on. The buttons on the top would flash but not in the correct order and the lens seems to have trouble as well. The noise when powering on was also much louder and just didn't seem right.

After about two months of use, it stopped working again! When I tried to turn it on, it gave an error stating 'high temperature' and immediately powered down. This was impossible because it was never in ANY environment with high temperatures. I used it mostly inside in temperatures around 70 degrees! It was never left in direct sunlight, etc. Now, it's not giving any message, the screen stays black, the lens starts to open and it powers down.

I checked the Kodak website and went through the tutorial to figure out what the problem was, yet again. It stated that I would have to send it in AGAIN, only this time it was out of warranty and the repair would cost $160!!! That is more than half what this junk costs new! I did some research online and found message boards of numerous other people having this exact same problem, but they want to charge us to fix it???

I will never buy from Kodak again. They obviously cannot guarantee quality and refuse to stand next to their product when a design flaw is discovered!

"Has Great Features But Is Junk" 2010-01-11
By Tabitha (Falls Church, VA)
This camera takes amazing pictures and then deletes them. There have been many pictures that instantly become corupted and lost forever. The video quality is amazing as well I have gotten lots of compliments on the videos but this camera was such a disappointment. And now it wont save any pictures to the memory card. I thought this was a really good deal for the money, but it has been a headache..

 "I LOVE this camera!!" 2010-01-10
By MAMinnich
I purchased this camera several years ago and have never been disappointed with it or the photos it takes. They come out crisp, clear, and the colors just pop! I'm a click-and-shoot kind of picture taker and this Kodak is perfect for me. However, those times when I want to get a close-up of a beautiful flower or adorable ladybug, I quickly change the setting for that and Bam! I've got a fantastic close-up picture! The timer works great, as well as some of the special settings, like shooting in low-light (candlelight), sunset, or even short videos. The usage of the battery is very good, as well. The camera is very sturdy, as it's been dropped a couple of times (oops!)and I still have no problems with it. This camera has taken me through 2 cruises, 2 trips to Nova Scotia, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, Florida a few times, Baltimore, Arizona, and many, many local trips as well as family and friend occasions. I would purchase this again in a heartbeat, without any hesitation. Even my husband, who does take more professional photos, has been impressed with this little yet mighty camera. Keep up the excellent work, Kodak!!

Was very easy to use and took fast nice pictures, was dropped once about 2 days after I bought it and it completely broke, Got a refurbished one from Kodak and the camera never worked right, it eventually went completely out after the warranty was up of course. Did take good pictures while it lasted though.

 "Battery life is horrible" 2009-10-15
By H. Shin (Orange County, California)
I've had my v530 for over three years now.

It's a very cute camera and the design is very fine.

It is very easy to navigate, as well.

But the battery life is horrible.

Even if I charge it fully, within 5 minutes of using it, the camera tells me that half the battery is gone.

And within another 3 minutes, it tells me that the battery is almost all gone.

I'm probably one of the worse examples, but I am in no way exaggerating.

I have to constantly remind my friends not to review pictures after they take them because the battery runs out even faster when you review.

And I feel pressured for time when I'm trying to enjoy making memories and taking shots of them.

The charging of the camera can also be a little bit annoying.

Personally, I was okay with it, but I don't think everyone would tolerate the need for a dock to charge the battery every single time.

It does take more than enough space in my luggage bag when I travel.

Just another thing you should contemplate before purchasing this camera.

Camera has terrible battery life, seller did not mention this at all in the advertisement. Additionally came with piecemeal accessories, such as a charger from a PSP... seriously? The surface was dinged and the display was poor.

Ok. All I'm going to say is this:

At the time I'm writing this, I've had this camera for over two years. and it's still performing just as it did when I first got it.

Picture quality is great

great "scenes" modes

Take good care of this thing and it will last you for practically as long as you want it.

 "Best digital camera" 2008-12-16
By Kathleen W Moses
I just love this camera! As a matter of fact, my first digital was the previous model of this one and I dropped it in the parking lot where I work. I didn't realize that the camera was missing until the next morning when I pulled into my spot! OH NO!!!! Knowing how pleased I was with this camera, I didn't hesitate to get the same one as my new one! It is an easy camera to work with when taking pictures, loading them on my computer and just over all the best camera! I love it.

"A wonderful camera for a budding photographer or just the average joe..." 2008-10-08
By Christina D. Bell (Alhambra, CA USA)
I bought this camera in 2005. It was the first digital camera I ever bought, or had really even used up to that point. I'm still using it to this day, matter of fact. It takes beautiful, rich colored pictures with no delay or lag. The settings are easy to use, and though most will find the auto feature to be more than enough for great shots, having all the day, night, beach, snow and other scene features has been awesome for adding a little something extra to my pics.

I take it with me everywhere. It may be a little thicker and heavier than most new modeled cameras, but it's still easy to tuck away in a purse. The camera has been used primary for taking pics and videos of my youth students...and has gone through everything from the grimy hands of 14-year olds grabbing it constantly, to being dropped in sand and the ocean. Never once has it stopped working! It takes great videos with great sound quality, and unlike some digitals, it takes as much video as you have the memory for...no 30-second time cap!

I highly recommend this for anyone who wants high-quality in a simplistic package. Especially when you look at the cheap prices you can find this camera for these days, it's definitely a top contender in my book.

 "great value!" 2008-05-19
By Jonathan G. Shay (Evanston, IL)
It's been great--nice resolution on both pictures and movies. Very versatile and adjusts well to may different conditions. Cuts down on red-eye very well--not 100%, of course, but pretty close. Sound quality on (quicktime format) movies is good. Simple enough that our 4-year old can operate it, but advanced enough to permit me to create video presentations for my high school students (after uploading movies to a Mac and using iMovie to edit...).

Good shutter speed and reaction time as well.

Don't let the 2MP fool you. The Kodak DC3400 is not a low resolution camera. You get the picture quality of a modern camera with the ease of use of something earlier. Its like a modern digital in a big friendly robust frame.

"Problems with this camera Kodak DC 3400" 2006-11-11
By extex_cop (Fort Worth, Texas United States)
I use this camera in my line of work...so I probably take more pictures than the average person. It is a good camera...and may be the best for the hobby shooter. There are 2 flaws with this model...first one being the 'battery cover door'. They break easily...especially if you happen to put the batteries in backwards and try to force the door close as my grandkids attempted. The other problem is the 'flash'. I'm not sure if it is the flash strobe or the flash capacitor that goes bad....but either way...the flash stops working. At first it's only a missing flash here and there...then complete failure...which makes me believe it is the capacitor going bad. Other than these 2 problems....they are really tough camera and can take a lot of abuse ( drops of 3 to 4 feet )without any damage other than batteries popping out.

"don't leave home without it!" 2003-08-04
By We Learn in the Wild (Louisiana)
i have owned this camera for about 2 years and have taken thousands of photos with it. i take pics of everything, everywhere i go. pics of my 5 year old son and pics for work (we "trim-out" custom homes). i then download the pics, edit them, make photo groupings. email them to family. print them out and use them as scrapbook pages. i even have a "custom options catalog" to show customers and every photo was taken with this camera. i use the best setting, so i dont get many photos per disk, but i get great photos. and once i edit them with printmaster they still download in email within less than a minute-and that is with my standard 56K dialup connection. i have the 8MB card that came with the camera, plus a 32MB card that i carry for backup. it is so quick and easy that sometimes i take pics, download, edit, email, format the card and start over again in well under an hour. this is a great little easy to use, easy to carry camera that is Always with me!

"my first and only digital camera" 2003-06-02
By E. Orchard (Iowa)
...this is a great camera for the beginner, someone new to digital cameras or an "average" user of cameras in general. even for a 2.1MP camera, it takes great shots. granted, i have nothing to compare it to! uploading photos is easy on winXP, but i couldn't do it on win98; i had to buy a flash card reader.

PROS: affordable (now, anyway!), easy user interface, with a 64mb flashcard, you can take 103 high quality photos. 3X optical zoom is nice.

CONS: heavy. image viewer is kinda hard to see; images are fuzzy. 2X digital zoom is useless. sucks batteries like crazy. get rechargables.
