"You could do much better than this!" 2009-12-23
By ellen
I've had this camera for several years and have been annoyed with it from the beginning, and have grown to outright hate it.

Battery life: bad. The included batteries were a joke. I got it rechargeables (still stay charged for a pathetically short time) and a dock almost as soon as I got it.

Ease of use: I guess it was ok, for 2006. For 2009, the screen is pathetically small and the controls feel clunky.

Features: this is its most impressive attribute. The camera does have minimal semi-manual modes, which is more than many consumer-model digital cameras. It also has all the "special" modes one would ever really need. That said, the camera is horrible indoors (especially without flash) and at night. This is a bright sunny vacation type of camera.

Picture quality: 4 MP isn't bad. It can be a little tricky to get it to focus correctly sometimes. Pictures often come out with bold, bright colors. Again, a great vacation picture camera. Overall picture quality is decent, but here, the exceptions overshadow the rule. Low-light, indoors, night are all bad. You don't realize how many non-sunny days you take pictures on until you find yourself desperately trying to get a good picture with a camera that just won't deliver.

Portability: This thing is really chunky for what it is. If it was loaded with features and had amazing picture quality, I could maybe understand it being this big. But if you're looking for a marginal, consumer-level digital camera, there's definitely more pocket-sized (and less frustrating to deal with) than this out there. Keep looking!

If you're curious, I upgraded to a Nikon P5100 a little over a year ago and it's the love of my life. I also paid less for it than the current price of this Kodak on amazon.

 "A really great camera" 2009-02-01
By Joseph (Mountain View CA)
I recently purchased this camera to replace my original Z700 which lasted me through over 5 years of almost daily use. The original was my first digital camera. I purchased it through the recommendation of a friend and was never sorry. Of course, when it finally died, the cost of replacement was more reasonable than repair.

Pros:

I like the simplicily of use of this camera. - Extremely uncomplicated.

The resolution is high enough for just about everything I do.

The color balance is excellent in variable shooting situations.

Durability - What can I say? Five years of rugged use (I am NOT known for being gentle with cameras).

Cons:

As mentioned in other reviews, the 16mb card and included batteries are a joke. Kodak should have left them up to the buyer to provide and reduced the price by a dollar. I personally only use rechargeables and use a 512 or 1k SD card. However, the included batteries have lasted quite awhile in my TV remote.

The small view screen.

Large overall camera size. Can't stick it in my pocket.

Overall however, I'd say this is one of the best cameras out there for the price. I've owned several other cameras (including the Z612), as well as having used numerous brands at work also, and find that I'd usually rather be shooting with this one.

 "camera" 2009-01-19
By Ella I. Hockenberry (Carlisle, PA USA)
I was a little disappointed with the whole sell process. It took a long time to get my stuff because the seller didn't have the original box. That could have been listed on the sale listing. I was sent a battery that doesn't work. The camera works if I have it on my charging base but doesn't work with the batteries I was sent. Now I have to find a local place to get a battery. I was just overall disappointed and wouldn't reccomend this seller to anyone.

 "I HATE THIS CAMERA" 2008-11-16
By E. Payaqui (CA)
I seriously hate this camera. It keeps dying! Even if I charge it forever, it only lasts for 5 minutes once you turn it on. My crappy $50? camera lasts weeks before needing to be charged. The features are okay though. Sometimes the pictures come out blurry, but I like the videos you can take. Also, it's too fat and big.

 "Not good!" 2008-09-15
By K. Hill (usa)
The printer did not work, it only printed 1/2 of the picture. I am having a real hard time with trying to get it replaced, and I had to send it back to the place that Kodak has that works on the printers, and they could not fix it. They told me they had to send it back to the manufacturer, Kodak, to get it replaced. I am still waiting on the replacement.

This is the first and last thing, I will buy on Amazon!
