 "Kodak C190" 2010-01-09

Nice starter digital camera with easy-to-use features for this price. Good quality pictures taken with use of a well sized viewer.

 "Blurry pictures" 2010-01-04
By M. Jackson (Anywhere, USA)
I too am extremely disappointed in this camera - I bought it from QVC as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The photos whether the subject is still or moving come out blurry and grainy. I also will no longer will purchase Kodak based on name brand trust. I will probably buy a Canon.

"WORST KODAK PRODUCT EVER MADE - I own many" 2009-12-25
By J. Best (Kansas)
I have owned several Kodak cameras since the 1970's with great sucess and happiness. That said this is the worst camera I have ever used. Pictures using a disposable would be better, in fact I would have them. Imagine - pictures of you childs Christmas program and you can't download them. Then Christmas and you go to try again and the camera wants to reformat the memory card. You say no and find out EVERY PICTURE YOU HAVE TAKEN IS GONE! Nothing, wiped out and your husband is on his way to a war zone. Nice way to remember Christmas. This camera is a plastic Chinese nightmare.

POOR CONSTRUCTION, PLASTIC AND SHODDY

NO INSTRUCTIONS (A SMALL PAMPHLET IS ALL THAT IS INCLUDED)& INSTUCTIONS ON LINE ARE POORLY WRITTEN

SOFTWARE UPGRADE DOESN'T WORK - YOU HAVE TO GET THE ONE ON LINE

WON'T DOWNLOAD OR WORK WITH EASYSHARE SOFTWARE

BATTERY LOAD IS MIS-MARKED

NO VIEW PORT - SCREEN ONLY

ALL INDOOR PICTURES HAVE TO BE TAKEN WITH ISO ADJUSTMENT OR ARE TOO DARK

RECOVERY TIME IS SO SLOW YOU MISS MOST SHOTS AND LORD HELP YOU IF YOU TAKE ONE THAT IS POOR AND HAVE TO WAIT TO TAKE THE NEXT, YOU WAIT FOREVER.

I can't believe Kodak put their name on this.

 "Very Disappointed" 2009-12-23
By Mrs. Virginia A. Butterfield (Cranberry Twp, Pa)
I was excited to get this camera to replace one several years old. Sadly, I am very disappointed with the picture quality. As many others have said, many of the pictures turn out fuzzy or blurry. The camera seems good for general scenery outdoors. However taking candids of groups of people, most pictures are blurry beyond repair. Twice I relied on this camera at events I attended and was VERY displeased with the results. I am going back to my old camera from now on. Also, for pictures of my dogs and cats, the camera is very poor as far as "red eye" even though there is a setting to supposedly reduce it. Most all cat and dog pictures are ruined by "red eye". I cannot recommend this camera. It is very disappointing. Does not matter it it is 12MP if the pictures are not clear to start with.

 "Nice Upgrade" 2009-12-20
By TomAzon (United States)
I got the C-190 as an upgrade to my Kodak C-643 6.1 megapixel camera (See my review). Comparing the two, the C-190 takes better quality photos (although I have taken some great shots with the C-643) and outside of the doubling of megapixels, the C-190 takes better low-light pictures, plus the video section takes better low-light videos. The C-643 only took good videos in good light. The C-190 has a 5x optical zoom and can use the SDHC cards. I also like its panoramic feature. The best advantage is the cost. This camera costs less new than the C-643 did.

Smart capture works on both cameras. All those people who think it's a "joke" should read the instructions. Just hold the button down halfway until the green brackets show, take the shot and you'll get better pictures.

On the con side, I don't know why there's no viewfinder. Sometimes bright sunlight can wash-out the image on the LCD screen. For some reason, there's no little speaker to hear the sounds on the videos as the C-643 has. I also liked the C-643's "camera sounds".

One other thing I don't like is that when you're in the SCN mode to choose your photo mode, the choices shown don't stay on the screen very long unless you keep scrolling through them. Also, it may have made for a convenient design to use one door for the SDHC card plus the batteries but it is easier to use one door for the card just on the chance that the batteries may fall out otherwise while you're trying to take the card out.
