Easy to use, takes very nice pictures for a basic camera & the low price. It stays charged for quite a while if the battery is fully charged. The menu feature has all of the camera basics covered & I like the way it "explains" what the different menu items mean.

 "GREAT" 2010-01-30
By L. Bausch
Even tho this cam is a yr or 2 old it's just as good if not way better than most of the cams in it's class and price range that records HD video. You can trust this statement. I spent much of this past Christmas break researching the best compact point and shoots with HD video recording capability for $200 and under. The three best were this Kodak M1033, the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS ELPH, and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T90. These cameras were almost exactly tied in all the ratings and reviews I studied. I chose the Kodak M1033 because it looked easier to operate and was priced for less. The only thing really negative to say about this camera is that it was a litte tough to find.

"Easy to use, High Quality" 2010-01-21
By Keith Wickersham (Charlotte, NC USA)
A high quality easy to use camera for every day photos or hard to shoot low light high resolution photography. Super sub compact with optical zoom lens. The HD video record is a super bonus that works great with the EASY SHARE TV adapter. Just plug it in and instantly see your video and slide shows on your HD TV. Uses SD memory available in affordable sizes up to 16GB (and soon larger). Nice Kodak product, and I am a Nikon Fan.

I had an opportunity to borrow one of these while on vacation in Italy - I dropped my kodak 825. It is simple to use and has a nice wide screen - no view finder. For the money (I paid $99) this is a great little camera that takes fairly good video quality too. Not sure why people pay more for the Red or Blue ones, but it doesn't make the camera work any better. I like the ease of changing modes and selecting different scenes (night, backlit, landscape, etc).

The camera is all that it is advertised to be. However, there is one feature I am disappointed in. The camera will not automatically date stamp the photos as they are taken. In order to date stamp photos, they have to be stamped manually, one at a time. Very disappointed about this since most of my photos are date stamped.

Wonderful product for taking along without the bulk of some higher end cameras. For the average user this product can do the job with pictures. Quality of pictures is quite stunning.  "Great picutres but ..." 2010-01-18
By Ah Bel (Ottawa, Canada)
The qualify of the photos is very impressive, esp. with people. Really just point and shoot, and you get great shots. However, I really am disappointed with the following:

1. to switch to video takes too many steps

2. it is very easy to delete all photos while you are just trying to delete one

3. WORST, the Easyshare software (version 7.0) that came with the camera didn't work at all. Even after downloading the latest & greatest (version 8.0) from the Kodak website, it's still doesn't work. I chatted with Kodak support for like an hour, trying many things, and eventually, they just asked me to "clean up" (not just uninstall, but eradicate) Kodak Easyshare, and try the whole thing again. I haven't have the time to do so, so I'm just taking my SD card out to copy the photos/videos over for now.

Compare to Canon (I had a Canon A750), the Kodak Easyshare software is obviously & sadly inferior.

 "Kodak M1093IS digital camera-disppointing!" 2009-12-09
By matt (NJ USA)
on a recent trip to Florida, I lost my Canon SD 1200IS digital camera which I was fairly happy with. The main drawback was that it only record video up to VGA resolution. The optical zoom and autofocus also does not operate once the recording starts. Based on the spec, the Kodak M1093IS seem to fit the bill. It was quite inexpensive($100) and record HD video at 720p resolution. Its optical zoom and autofocus also worked while recording. But I was quite disappointed with both still picture and video performance. Both the pictures or video are grainy-lots of chroma noise unless under perfect lighting conditions. The weak flash does not help on this matter either. While the optical zoom is operable during video recording, the video become very blurry during zooming. The autofocus kicks in after stopping zooming. The auto white balance also too sensitive and shifting visibly with slight change in lighting during panning. When playing back the video on computer, the audio and video got di-synchronized and the gap became increasingly larger as the clip getting longer although play back on camera appeared to be fine. The worst thing was that it give me error messages a couple of times and has to reformat the SD card to continue. Luckily, I did not have much important photos or video in it on those occasions. I also encountered error messages when transferring the pictures and videos to computer (claiming corrupt files) via the supplied USB cable. However, transferring the same through my SD card reader on the computer worked without any problem! I am not sure the SD card or the camera was the culprit. I do not have much confidence in this camera with important events. Overall, both still and video performance is below the Canon SD1200IS. I guess you get what you paid for! Maybe I have to buy another more reliable camera.

I was tired of hauling around a D200 Nikon. I get great results from it, but it can't shoot video or fit in my pocket.

I picked up one of these Kodak jobs and was pleased. It had a really good macro, shoots nice video, and has all the stuff I need except for an SD card. You will have to buy one since the camera has limited memory. But it can take up to a 32 gig card. Amazing. The battery seems to have lots of juice too, which is always a problem for small compact cameras. The colors from the software are good. I hate having to photoshop images, and this has a nice color balance. Good flash too.

"Fantastic photos for bargain price" 2010-01-04
By peamom (USA)
I bought this to replace a Kodak z740 which also had 10X optical zoom and an eye finder, and took beautiful photos, but it was too clunky to fit in my pocket, and only 5mp with small screen so went in search of another camera. I first tried the Canon sx120IS, which was a major disappointment and you can see my review on it's product page. The Z915 on the other hand takes fantastic pictures. However, I must note that first camera I got was defective in that the outer edges of every photo were a bit blurry. I took a chance and exchanged for same camera as I loved the features and the great Kodak exposure. Well I'm glad I did because the new camera takes incredible shots.

Here's what's BEST about camera:

1) Sharp pictures with that wonderful Kodak vibrant exposure -- every one looks so warm and healthy.

2) 10X optical zoom is incredible

3) Camera has a "stage" scene that takes incredible photos of people on stage (I took some in off Broadway play) and camera makes no noise and no flash so no bother to the performers. If you have a kid in plays -- this camera is worth the price for that alone.

4) Has a completely manual setting where you can independently set shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure and it will warn you in yellow if your settings do not jive with eachother

5) Has a "High ISO" scene that takes incredible photos indoors in low light. I took some wonderful shots at an indoor basketball game where I was sitting 20 rows up off floor and zoomed in close to the foul shooter and pictures were great. (Note disable the flash or you'll miss an action shot - flash won't reach that far anyway).

6) In display mode, has an "i" information button that tells you all the settings the camera chose even in scene or auto mode, so you can see what the shutter speed, aperture, iso, and exposure was for a particular shot and learn from it.

7) Takes AA batteries which is super convenient. Batteries last days as long as you use good rechargeable batteries. Alkalines will work but not last as long. I bought a 15 minute Energizer charger with batteries.

8) Super easy to operate. Very intuitive - you won't need to open the manual.

9) Camera has does very well in minimizing noise. Check the online professional reviews and you will see the difference between this and the competition.

Here's what could be better:

1) This is not a sexy camera. A little clunky looking but fits well in your hand. Size tradeoff worth it for the 10x zoom

2) Wish it had an eye finder for two reasons. Can be tough to see in bright sun. You may have to use one hand to shield the screen and the other to shoot. Also would be nice to have eye finder for the stage setting so audience at the play don't have to be bothered by the glowing screen as you take the pic (even though no flash or noise on that setting).

3) I find putting the camera in P mode takes better photos than the smart capture mode, where the camera chooses a scene or settings based on what it sees. I took a picture of my kids playing wii video game in basement on both settings and the smart capture had some noise, whereas in the P mode where I left ISO in auto and let the camera choose everything else was noise free.

4) The camera's find faces function is just so so, sometimes finding a few faces and not all. I found that if I want everyone pin point sharp in a group photo, hit the macro flower button on top of the camera to select Landscape (mountains icon appears), which gave me the most depth of field and everyone came out sharp - a must do for shots of people at a table where some close, some far.

Note: The Kodak Z950 is the same camera, but a little smaller in size, 12mp as opposed to 10mp, same 10x opticle zoom, but proprietary lithium battery, and Schneider lens. It is a bit more expensive so if you want smaller size and proprietary battery (plan another $30 for extra battery and $40 is you want external charger), then try that one.

Bottom line this is a great camera with stupendous optical zoom for a bargain basement price compared to the competetion. I gave it only a 3 star for portability as it is a little clunky compared to say the Panasonic Lumix with similar zoom. It's super easy to operate, but allows you many manual controls and a stage scene I've never seen on another camera. Can't wait for the kids' plays!

"Nice camera except for video which malfunctions intermittently" 2009-12-30
By Photo Enthusiast (MTO,NJ)
Nice camera for the price.

Pros

Has mostly everything I wanted

-10x optical zoom

-10MP

-Manual controls (with light meter)

-AA batteries

-not a power hog - my rechargeable batteries work just fine

-ability to hook up DC external power supply (for long videos)

Cons

-No view finder, so very difficult to see LCD in bright sunshine (problem with all LCDs)

-The camera just loses control of Video (means there is no way to stop it or turn off the camera except to remove batteries). This happens intermittently for longer videos (beyond 4-5 mins). I lost some invaluable moments this way.

Overall, a nice camera. Daytime shots are wonderful. Night shots are grainy but you can experiment with the manual controls. Can serve as a training camera before getting a dSLR.

 "Under Priced Quality Camera" 2009-09-12
By Michael E. Moreira (New England)
After a bad experience with another brand, I decided to go back to a consistant favorite of mine; Kodak.

This Z915 model is exceptional for the price. I compared features across other brands, and this came out as the lowest price for the same features.

10MP means you can crop the heck out of your pictures and they won't turn grainy. The 10x optical zoom is a deal-sealer for me, since you have the option of getting in close to a subject when you want, without using the 'digital zoom' feature thats on digital cameras (which isnt really a zoom, and cuts down on picture quality).

Optical Image Stabilization helps clear up shakey shots, lots of options for both the beginner/casual shooter, and more in depth choices for the experienced photog round out this awesome deal.

Choice of colors is a nice touch, the icing on the cake.

I bought this thing and headed to the tropics for a while. It was easy to use and had all the features I wanted.

Got home and was somewhat disappointed with the picture quality. There is no UV filter in the camera, so mid day photos are pretty hazy. I expected a lot out of this camera, and got most of what I wanted, but I have seen better in the pocket digital camera world. I don't know where they get the idea of 12.2 MP on this chip. Yes, the files are big, but still grainy, I would guess from a less than great lens. Why bother with a big sensor if you won't install a decent lens?

I bought this camera to shoot pictures of wild iguanas. I needed something with a good zoom lens, because you can't get too close, fast and easy focus because iguanas are really fast when spooked. I can't believe how good the pictures come out. No blurring, great closeups, point and shoot. For the non-professional this is amazing at a reasonable price. It is also quiet without any bells to scare anyone and gets crisp sharp images with amazing detail. The screen lets you see exactly what the picture you snapped looks like right after you shoot it so you can zoom in or out or center it better with the next shot. It all fits in a small inexpensive Kodak case (sold separately) for easy storage with extra batteries and flash cards. I love this camera!!

The HD video quality on this camera is superb, but that is probably the only thing going for it. Still images often turn out warped, and it has trouble taking pictures in either dim lighting or when it's bright outside. In other words the indoor pictures will often turn out blurry or the photos outside in bright sunlight look like the camera has been pointed directly into the sun. The battery life on the camera is average, but it's major drawback is the construction quality. The camera is very cheaply made and 'feels' very cheap when you hold it. It doesn't have anywhere near the durability of other manufacturer's cameras within the same price range. I treated my camera very well, yet it stopped working only after about 15 months. I turned it on one day, the lens extended out, something internally snapped, and the lens would no longer go back in. And then it wouldn't turn on altogether. I had never dropped nor damaged the camera, yet some internal mechanisms within the camera broke regardless from gentle and normal use. The camera is also a bit bulky when compared to similar makes. The camera also seems to have problems reading memory cards. Mine wouldn't distinguish between a 2GB memory card, or an 8GB memory card. If you put in a larger capacity memory card in order to record more video for example, the camera would only recognize the recording time as being that of a 2GB card instead. In other words it wouldn't record any more than the alloted time before it thought the memory card was full, which of course it wasn't. Finally, the battery will only charge when the camera is plugged into a USB port. The battery doesn't come with a separate charger. This can become a huge problem should you forget to plug your camera into the computer. Thus you'll likely need to order yourself an extra battery with a wall charger like I did so you can be sure the battery won't die while you're out and about. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this camera. Unless someone is selling a new one for a huge discount, say 50% off, I would shop around for a non-Kodak digital camera instead......

"Very nice camera - excellent pictures! Very easy to use, too!" 2010-01-09
By PaulD
I am an advanced amateur user of expensive film cameras for many decades and purchased this as a gift. I am blown away by the quality of these digital images. This is a really nice camera and easy to use - small and compact, too. Although the camera has various settings, the automatic feature on this camera will try to automatically select the setting appropriate for the scene (i.e. backlit subjects that you don't want to come out dark, come out perfectly exposed). I can honestly find nothing wrong for a camera in this price range. And, don't let he price fool you - you get a very good camera with additional settings (should you need them) for a GREAT price and can you believe it even comes with a tripod socket! Kodak has done a nice job with this camera...kudos to them! And, Amazon has great prices - keep up the good work Amazon and I will return.

 "Does not work!!!" 2010-01-01
By Shalom Book Worm (Massapequa, NY)
Bought this camera at Target for a holiday gift. When we gave it to our daughter, she put in the batteries and it did nothing. Thinking the batteries that came with the unit were dead or defective,we used other fresh batteries that we had in the house. Nothing. Here's the kicker - we returned it to Target and exchanged it for another one. Before leaving the store, we had the salesman open it up to test it. Nothing happened! Bad shipment? Bad QC? Whatever, I will not buy Kodak again.

 "Battery life unacceptable" 2009-12-23
By Love Amazon (Colorado Springs, CO)
I bought this camera for Grandma who has never used a digital camera, thinking it would be easy to use. Like most point-and-shoot Kodaks, the dial is easy and intuitive. The pictures are good quality -- reasonably clear with good color. The flash works well if you're not too close, even in a dark room. Pictures downloaded easily, even without installing the software. The movie mode is low resolution, which I expected for a camera at this price, but playback has no sound when viewed on the camera. The deal-breaker for me was that the original alkaline batteries died after less than 10 photos. I bought the accompanying charger and rechargeable batteries. The charger only holds two batteries, and after charging for 14+ hours, I got about 20 photos. I also tried the rechargeable batteries from my daughter's Kodak which were freshly charged in another charger, but again, I got only about 20 photos, half without flash. The auto-focus sound it makes even when the sound is turned off and your finger isn't even on the button is annoying, but I could live with it if the battery lasted more than 15 minutes. I stopped testing it after this -- I'm going to get something else!

Pros:

Easy to use

Pictures clear with good color

Good flash

Cons:

Eats batteries like candy!

No sound on camera movie playback

Annoying auto-focus sound

Bottom line: It might work for someone who takes only a minimal number of photos, but it is frustrating for anything more than that.

"Get what you pay for" 2009-12-20
By Shutterbug (Fl)
We decided to replace our Kodack V530 which lasted us 4 yrs and never had to replace the battery! Well we did our research and thought that this would be the best purchase. Well I had it three days and we were on vacation in Disney with our kids of all places. First the low battery light came on after day two day and by the way we did not use but three times that day or the day before. Then on day three the flash quit working. So we thought it might be the battery causing it. After replacing the battery and reviewing the manual. Turns out the flash just quit working all together.I am returning the camera today and getting my money back! Also read ALL the features before purchase. When you record a video and play it back there is no sound. My suggestion is get a camera that has the lithium batteries. Its worth the purchase. I guess if you are just looking for a BASIC camera, this would be it minus the malfunction. But if you are looking for something a little better, spend the money!!

 "disappointed" 2010-01-12
By A. Riley (JEROME, ID, US)
I bought this camera for convenience, to take places I didn't want to take my bigger camera. I was really happy with the picture quality and the 3" LCD, the cool color was just a bonus. I didn't look that carefully at the reviews for this camera (my own fault) to find out some of the common problems that people had shared. It not lasting very long, making strange noises and even though I thought it took really good pictures, a lot of people disagree. My problem started with the cameras second day of use. The camera started making grinding and clicking sounds when trying to focus, it was then that I read the reviews and decided before it quit altogether, I would return it. I haven't replaced yet, but will look more closely at the reviews next time.

 "Kodak camera" 2010-01-07
By J. Salyer (Lexington, KY)
Well pleased with the quality of the Kodak M380 camera. Small, light weight and compact to carry in a purse or back pocket. Sturdy. Options are not too complex . . even a senior citizen can use! Picture quality good. Zoom and focus more than adequate. Battery quality impressive. Like the option to charge the camera battery with the USB via computer!

"An Excellent Camera at This Price" 2009-12-20
By S. Yue (Hayward, CA)
I read all reviews before I bought this Kodak M380 directly from Kodak online store several weeks ago when its promotion price was $99.99 with a free Kodak 4GB memory card and free shipping. After two-week testing of using this camera, I think it's really a perfect camera at this price! Other people already mentioned its main features. However, I esp. like the following features:

1. Compact, cute and very portable. I bought a 3.1 Mega Pixels Kodak DX4330 camera about 6 years ago, it takes very good pictures but bulky, although it still works without any problems and my wife still likes to use it because of it takes very colorful pictures.

2. 5X Optical Zoom is wonderful for me to capture photos and videos for my daughter when she performs some shows on the stage.

3. Its rechargeable battery lasts much much longer than rechargeable AA battery. During the past two weeks, I took more than 100 pictures (some with flash light) and about 20-minute video, the battery icon still shows 1/2 remaining power (I set LCD brightness to median, not high).

4. Big LCD screen and very easy to browse all of the pictures on the camera.

Some reviewers mentioned the soft "Ka Ka" sound during the operation. I am not very good in the optical field, however, I know this is not a problem at all because this is the sound made by the camera when it automatically adjust its focus on the object before its lens when you use Smart Capture mode and keep moving the camera. If you use other mode or record video, there will be no such "Ka Ka" sound. This is not a mechanical issue at all in my opinion.

Overall, this is an excellent camera at this price. If you don't like it, of course, you can always spend several hundred dollars more to buy yourself whatever camera you like.

"Poor picture and it makes sound" 2009-12-19
By P Alva (San Diego CA USA)
I bought this product after seeing the features, price and its compact size and Li-ion battery features.

After using it once, I did not like the picture quality. Picture did not look realistic and from 10MP camera.

Even the picture captured in bright sunlight looked like some art picture. Night pictures and video recored were very bad. When camera is ON, it keeps making some kir-kir sound always even if no button is touched.

Camera response time between snaps is poor and you miss may shots when it becomes ready again.

I had to return this camera and go for Cannon.
