"Very nice camera - excellent pictures! Very easy to use, too!" 2010-01-09
By PaulD
I am an advanced amateur user of expensive film cameras for many decades and purchased this as a gift. I am blown away by the quality of these digital images. This is a really nice camera and easy to use - small and compact, too. Although the camera has various settings, the automatic feature on this camera will try to automatically select the setting appropriate for the scene (i.e. backlit subjects that you don't want to come out dark, come out perfectly exposed). I can honestly find nothing wrong for a camera in this price range. And, don't let he price fool you - you get a very good camera with additional settings (should you need them) for a GREAT price and can you believe it even comes with a tripod socket! Kodak has done a nice job with this camera...kudos to them! And, Amazon has great prices - keep up the good work Amazon and I will return.

 "Does not work!!!" 2010-01-01
By Shalom Book Worm (Massapequa, NY)
Bought this camera at Target for a holiday gift. When we gave it to our daughter, she put in the batteries and it did nothing. Thinking the batteries that came with the unit were dead or defective,we used other fresh batteries that we had in the house. Nothing. Here's the kicker - we returned it to Target and exchanged it for another one. Before leaving the store, we had the salesman open it up to test it. Nothing happened! Bad shipment? Bad QC? Whatever, I will not buy Kodak again.

 "Battery life unacceptable" 2009-12-23
By Love Amazon (Colorado Springs, CO)
I bought this camera for Grandma who has never used a digital camera, thinking it would be easy to use. Like most point-and-shoot Kodaks, the dial is easy and intuitive. The pictures are good quality -- reasonably clear with good color. The flash works well if you're not too close, even in a dark room. Pictures downloaded easily, even without installing the software. The movie mode is low resolution, which I expected for a camera at this price, but playback has no sound when viewed on the camera. The deal-breaker for me was that the original alkaline batteries died after less than 10 photos. I bought the accompanying charger and rechargeable batteries. The charger only holds two batteries, and after charging for 14+ hours, I got about 20 photos. I also tried the rechargeable batteries from my daughter's Kodak which were freshly charged in another charger, but again, I got only about 20 photos, half without flash. The auto-focus sound it makes even when the sound is turned off and your finger isn't even on the button is annoying, but I could live with it if the battery lasted more than 15 minutes. I stopped testing it after this -- I'm going to get something else!

Pros:

Easy to use

Pictures clear with good color

Good flash

Cons:

Eats batteries like candy!

No sound on camera movie playback

Annoying auto-focus sound

Bottom line: It might work for someone who takes only a minimal number of photos, but it is frustrating for anything more than that.

"Get what you pay for" 2009-12-20

We decided to replace our Kodack V530 which lasted us 4 yrs and never had to replace the battery! Well we did our research and thought that this would be the best purchase. Well I had it three days and we were on vacation in Disney with our kids of all places. First the low battery light came on after day two day and by the way we did not use but three times that day or the day before. Then on day three the flash quit working. So we thought it might be the battery causing it. After replacing the battery and reviewing the manual. Turns out the flash just quit working all together.I am returning the camera today and getting my money back! Also read ALL the features before purchase. When you record a video and play it back there is no sound. My suggestion is get a camera that has the lithium batteries. Its worth the purchase. I guess if you are just looking for a BASIC camera, this would be it minus the malfunction. But if you are looking for something a little better, spend the money!!
