 "Great camera!" 2010-01-18
By Jeff Smith
I purchased this camera for $99.99 during this past Cyber-Monday weekend. I have used this camera at a recent party. This camera has a lot of features. The video playback is excellent. The only flaw is the battery power. It comes with a lithium battery, and it didn't last long. Also, the camera does not use regular alkaline batteries. You need to get KLIC-8000 rechargeable batteries. Other than that, this camera is a lot more than what i paid for.

 "Died after 2 weeks" 2010-01-14
By Flot (United States)
I should have known better after reading the mixed reviews, but bought this camera and it died after 2 weeks. Unfortunately there aren't many kodak models left that work with the dock I already own, or the $20 battery I bought for this one. Kodak support sounded like a callcenter you know where, no opportunities for advance replacement of an obviously defective item. Thanks a lot kodak.

 "Kodak Z1485 IS 14mp Digital Camera" 2010-01-12
By Ken Blkaney (Oklahoma City)
The Camera is a Z1485 IS (the IS means image stabilization) - I purchased the blue one and I like it. This camera fits just fine in my shirt pocket and it feels good in my hand too - the lens sticks out 3/8" with the camera turned off and the lens sticks out 1¼" with the camera turned on (all of the pictures that I had previously seen of this camera were shown with the camera turned on and with the lens extended out) - compared to my older Kodak C643 the overall dimensions are about the same - my older C643 has a real viewfinder but this Z1485 IS uses the screen for a viewfinder - However the brighter screen can be seen just fine in the bright sunlight if I am wearing sunglasses - loading a battery or SD card is easy - the

?KLIC-8000 battery is fool proof, it only fits and goes in one-way and I like that because i can easily change the battery in the dark -the battery sort of has an appearance of two AA batteries molded together - Just a few seconds before the battery completely dies, the camera lens automatically retracts and the camera automatically turns itself off - - a panoramic picture is easy to do and looks good and I like that too - the user's guide that came with the camera seems easy enough to understand but this camera's operation is very much like my older Kodak C643 so it was an easy transition for me - This is a powerful little camera that will give you control over your picture taking but for a point-and-shoot novice like me, I just leave it in the smart capture mode and it takes fantastic pictures without any of my help. It also takes a very good picture in very low light conditions and I was pleasantly surprised and I am very pleased with that.

Software = the camera comes with a USB cord and an Easyshare CD for either PC or Mac - I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger and the installation was easy - the pictures and videos are fantastic

Battery = the camera comes with a throw-away battery CRV3 but I bought two Kodak ?KLIC-8000 Li-Ion rechargeable batteries (one is for a back-up spare) and I bought the Kodak K7600-C Li-Ion Universal AC/DC Battery Charger - you can recharge at home or office or in your car - I only use a camera twice a year on vacations and Kodak Tech Support recommended to store these batteries in a discharged state -The K7600-C recharges one battery at a time and it takes exactly 4 hours to recharge a completely dead ?KLIC-8000 battery - I can video in the HD mode for 93 minutes on one battery charge (approximately 1½ hours) - While HD Videoing, I used up six 2GB SD Cards before the battery finally died - I don't know how many still pictures can be taken on one battery charge but I suspect probably more pictures than a normal person would want to take (probably many hundreds) -

Video = you can zoom in and zoom out while you are videoing and the camera chimes when the SD Card is full and I like that too -

SD Cards - With the camera set in the 14.2mp mode, my 2GB cards each yield a total of 456 pictures or 17 minutes of HD video, either/or a combination of both, the more pictures the less video, the less video then more pictures - I have 4 of the older Kodak brand SD Cards that I used in my older Kodak C643 - all of my SD Cards are 2GB - One is a plain Kodak SD card - One is a plain Kodak SD High Performance card - and Two are Kodak SD High Speed 60X cards - They all seem to work just fine with 14.2mp stills or HD video - Kodak recommends that if you are using a different brand of SD Card other than Kodak then you should use at least a class 6 SD card - I plan to purchase Kodak 8GB 60x SD cards so I can do HD video for 1 hour on 1 card

HD Video 1200x720 uses up much more computer hard drive space than the old 640x480 video. Depending on how much video you want to record and upload, make sure you have plenty of hard drive space on your computer for your HD videos. In rough numbers, a one hour HD Video takes up 8GB of hard drive to upload into my Kodak Easyshare program, then it takes another 8GB to import that file into my iMovie program for editing, and then some more GBs for editing my iMovie project, and then it takes another 8GB to import the edited video into my iDVD program for burning to a DVD disk... It takes a total of at least 24GB of hard drive space, or a bit more, to complete a one-hour video onto a DVD disk or about 48GB for a two hour HD Video of my grandkids birthday parties. I have recently ordered a new LaCie 1TB (one trillion bit) external hard drive from amazon for $100 ... if needed, an external hard drive addition is the answer ... that's much cheaper than buying another computer with a larger hard drive ... unless you just want a newer computer and need an excuse to convince your spouse ...

I did a lot of previous researching, and I think this little Kodak Z1485 IS 14mp has it all over the other brands, dollar for dollar ... I've only had this camera for a few days now and this information is all I've got folks - I hope this has been helpful to all of you point-and-shoot camera seekers ... I have also posted some pictures of my camera, sitting next to my Dr. Pepper can, here on Amazon too ... and as of this date and time, I really like this camera and I recommend it ....

Kodak makes nice inexpensive digital cameras that work well. I have had several Kodak cameras in the past and have always been really happy. The only bad thing about this camera is that it is made in China. However, what is not these days?
